East Hall Lady Vikings Softball

Policies and Regulations

We are beginning a new era of East Hall softball. In order to be successful, each person involved must do their share and be responsible for building the program. This is YOUR program. It will only go as far as you- the players and supporters- are willing to take it. Below is a summary of our policies and how we will do business from here on out. This document outlines the basic responsibilities of each person involved in the program: coaches, players, and supporters.

Coaching Staff:

· Coaches are responsible for in-game decisions. Our job is to put the best 9 players on the field and put them in the best positions to win softball games.

· Coaches are responsible for running practice and offseason workouts. Although we cannot force the players to attend voluntary workouts, they will be encouraged to participate and their playing time during the season may be affected by their attendance.

· Coaches are responsible for scheduling and setting up game times and scrimmages.

· Coaches are responsible for disciplining players for bad conduct and grades.

· Coaches are responsible for being organized and approachable. The practice schedule will be posted each week so that supporters always know what is going on each day. It is the coaches’ ultimate responsibility to keep up with the team website and make sure everyone can access the schedules. Coaches also hold the responsibility of meeting with supporters and staying in communication with them.

· Coaches are responsible of ensuring the safety and well-being of the players.

· Coaches are responsible for modelling high character and integrity on and off the field.

Players:

· Players are responsible for keeping their grades up. If at any time a player is failing more than ONE class, the player will be suspended until they pull the grades up. Education is the reason they are in school, therefore it is most important.

· Players are responsible for being respectful and behaving in class. If at any time there is a discipline issue in the classroom, coaches have the authority to punish as they feel is necessary.

· Players are responsible for attending workouts in the offseason. Each time we meet as a team, every player should be there.

· Players are responsible for their attitudes and effort in games and in practice. Playing time will be based on a combination of practice and game performance and attitude.

· Players are responsible for displaying high character and integrity on and off the field.

Supporters:

Supporters include parents, grandparents, guardians, and fans.

· Supporters are responsible for loving their athlete. You are their role model and responsible for turning them into successful adults. Come and support them and let them know how much you enjoy seeing them play.

· Supporters are responsible for attending games and cheering for East Hall.

· Supporters are responsible for notifying a member of the coaching staff if their athlete will be late to practice or if they are unable to attend practice. Coaches must be notified by 1:00 that day.

Policies:

In order to have a positive working relationship, coaches and supporters require a set of policies and regulations to abide by. These rules are non-negotiable. Your signature below signifies that you have read and agree to these policies and regulations.

· Supporters may meet with the head coach, however they must follow the process to set up a meeting. Meetings are set up in the following way:

·  Supporter emails the head coach requesting a meeting

·  Head coach gives the supporter a timeframe in which he is available

·  Supporter comes in on time

·  Supporter is respectful

· Playing time WILL NOT be discussed at any meeting or via email. If a supporter wants to know how their athlete can improve and get rewarded with playing time, they may set up a meeting to discuss how the athlete may improve.

· If an athlete is planning to miss or be late to practice, the head coach must be notified by 1:00 that day.

· Each player must ride the bus to road games, and they must ride the bus back to the school except on drop-and-go days. The drop-and-go days will be highlighted on the weekly schedule.

· Supporters will be hospitable and respectful at every event.
